Affordable housing
A further meeting with Salisbury District Council was held on 21 September at which details of the house designs and layout for 12 houses in Catherine Ford Rd in Dinton were considered and agreement reached. Revised plans would be submitted to the Council within a week, after which a 13 week planning approval process would begin. Plans would therefore be approved early in the New Year with housing available for occupancy later in the year. Those with a connection with Barford or Dinton would have a preference for occupancy.
Heavy vehicles
The huge increase in heavy vehicles, in particular container vehicles and car transporters, on their way to and from the Westfields Industrial Estate in Dinton is causing great concern amongst residents of Barford and Dinton. Salisbury District Council is being pressed to establish whether planning approvals are being breached.
Play Area
There is evidence of misbehaviour in the play area not least the mindless destruction of the netting fence. Once that is mended there will be a need to consider closing the play area again while rectification of the damage is carried out.
School
The future of Barford School is currently the subject of a consultation paper. The Parish Council, at its meeting on 13 September, backed the option to federate Barford Primary School with the Primary School in Wilton. This option offers the best prospects of retaining a school in Barford with a high standard of education.
Parish Lengthsmen
These are now called Parish Wardens. Barford has a two day slot for the next 3 months for work such as sign cleaning, drain cleaning etc to be undertaken. Residents should let me know if they see a task that they think ought to be done. The forthcoming visits are on 3rd and 4th October, 6th and 7th November and 4th December.
Entrance to Heath Farm Park
The Parish Council will be contacting the owner of the land adjacent to the entrance about setting the hedge back to improve visibility.
