Best Kept
Village Competition
The village was placed last in the medium size village category. Details of the marking are on the main notice board. The Parish Council was disappointed with the marks and the marking.
Skips
The manned refuse compaction vehicle was in the village on Saturday 1 July. It was unable to use the site at the top of Dairy Rd because of parked vehicles and was unable to drive down St Martins Close to the car park also because of parked vehicles. The only usable site was the car park behind the Barford Inn. The Parish Council decided that it could not justify a further visit this year.
Affordable Housing
After a meeting between Salisbury District Council, the chairmen of Barford and Dinton Parish Councils and the architect agreement was reached to go ahead with the build of 12 affordable houses in Catherine Ford Rd in Dinton. After guidance from SDC on what would be acceptable revised house designs and layout would be submitted by the architect to SDC at the beginning of August.
Fishing
Arrangements for fishing in the river upstream from the bridge at the bottom of Dairy Rd have once again been agreed with the Hurdcott Estate. Tuition by John Slader of the Salisbury Angling Club will be given on 3 August at 6.30pm. It will be free of
charge (the cost will be met by the Parish Council)
Gateway Markings
The red tarmac base of the gateway markings on the A30 Shaftesbury Rd outside the 30mph limitation sign has been put down and will be followed soon by the yellow cross markings and the reinstatement of the central white lines.
Grass Verge
The grass verge opposite the school has been re-seeded after damage by vehicles when the traffic priority system was put in and by parents dropping off and collecting their children from school. Parking on this and any grass verge is illegal.
Library service
Details of revised times have been published in Valley News and on the village notice boards.
Barford Bulletin
The Barford Bulletin has been incorporated into Valley News. Please let me have your views on whether you think this is detrimental to the communication of local information.
Next Parish Council
The next Parish Council meeting will take place on 13 September in the Community Room in the school at 7pm.
