Affordable Housing

Detailed drawings for 12 houses in Catherine Ford Rd in Dinton have been submitted to SDC. Dinton and Barford Parish Councils have recommended their approval. A mixture of shared ownership and rent is proposed. It is hoped that construction can commence early in 2006/7. Anyone wanting more information should contact me.

Play Area

After its closure for safety reasons the play area has reopened. £1139 was spent replenishing the bark and repairing the equipment as recommended by the inspection carried out by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

Clearway

WCC are proposing to create a clearway at the bus stop outside The Haven. If approved no parking would be permitted there at any time. The Parish Council has opposed the proposal on the grounds that it would create more danger on the roadway rather than lessen it.

Hedge Cutting

The Parish Council has appointed Nigel Spinney to cut the hedges for which the Parish Council is responsible at a rate of £19 per hour. The hedges have now been cut.

Speed Cameras

As a result of negotiations with the Camera Safety Partnership mobile speed cameras will be located from time to time along West St (B3089). It is hoped that there will be a feed-back from the Partnership on their effectiveness. However, they are unable to locate a camera on the Shaftesbury Rd. because the distance between the bend and the delimitation sign is too short. WCC have said that they are also unable to meet a request to put in a bollard in the centre of the road because that road is too narrow. They are hoping to put in a coloured gateway marking in the next financial year.

Emergency Plan

The Parish Council hopes that someone will come forward to take the lead in producing a Parish Emergency Plan.

Hurdcott Bend

WCC are conducting a study of the road conditions on the bend and will report in due course.

Community Facilities

The Community Association has disbanded having completed its job. The Parish is looking for someone to take the lead in managing the Community Room in the school House

Parish Council

The next meeting will take place on 8 March at 7pm in the school Community Room. The agenda will be posted on to the notice boards.
