Parish
Council Meeting
The Council met on 8 September 2004. The County
and District Councillor and 5 members of the
public were also present.
The Clerk reported that, as planned, expenditure
at the year-end was likely to exceed income.
The Chairman reported that the Grovely Rd site in
Barford was not acceptable to the Wilton Estate
for the construction of affordable housing and
that the Catherine Ford Rd site in Dinton had
emerged as a clear favourite site and that the
Council should support it. The Council agreed.
Cllr Coombes said that work on the Lytch Gate had
started and was schedule to be finished by end
October. The Council agreed to the purchase of
additional special bricks to enable the entrance
wall to be repaired at a future date.
Despite advertisements appearing in the local
Bulletin and the WALC newsletter no applicants
for the post of Parish Clerk had as yet come
forward. A detailed job description had been
prepared and was available by contacting him on
01722 716053. He reminded the Council that the
intention was for the new Clerk to be in post in
parallel with him for a period of about 2 months
and that money for training had been set aside.
The Council reconfirmed its intention to purchase
Christmas lights to be put up in the yew tree in
the churchyard.
The Council opposed the idea of bringing forward
the decision on the traffic priority system. It
felt that the experiment should run for a full
year as originally intended.
The next meeting would be on 10 November.
