Parish Council Meeting

The next meeting will be held in the School House on 8 September starting at 7pm. All members of the public are welcome.

Affordable Housing

The plan to have affordable housing built in either Barford or Dinton (or both) but equally available to qualifying residents from either parish is moving forward. A note of the outcome of a meeting on 29 July 2004, dealing in particular with potential sites, is posted on the notice board in the churchyard.

Fishing

Because of complaints about techniques being used by those fishing, the Parish Council will consider organising instructional lessons for future years.

Village Visits

The visit by the Tisbury Sports Centre team on 26 July was poorly attended. The Parish Council pays for these visits and will have to think hard about whether to sponsor these visits in future.

School Field

A storage shed has been erected in the school field alongside the pavilion. Shelving has been purchased for the interior. This has all been funded by the balance of R2 money received by the Parish Council from the developers of the cottages in Factory Lane.

Lytch Gate

Work is likely to commence in September and take about 2 months to complete. Access to the cemetery during construction will always be available for funerals or visits.

Play Area/Kick-about area

Gates have been installed and will be locked at night. The tree stump has at long last been removed. The Burnbake Trust have been tidying the areas and removing the thistles from time to time.

Grass cutting

The Parish Council has made representations to Banyards about the quality of service received this year and improvements have been promised.

Cricket Match

A match between Barford and Dinton is being organised for 5 September on the cricket field in Dinton to be followed by a hog roast at the Barford Inn.

Traffic Priority System in West St

WCC have indicated that they wish to complete the assessment of the experimental system before the end of the year. The public meeting is therefore likely to take place in November.
