Parish
Council
The next meeting on 28 April is the annual parish
meeting. The Chairman will report on progress
against the Parish Plan for the year 2003/2004.
Members of the public will have the opportunity
to raise issues of concern that they wish the
Council to deal with.
West St Cemetery
The go-ahead for the construction of the lytch
gate will be given at the next Parish Council
meeting. The tap has been repaired.
Stonehenge Tunnel
The Parish Council is against the expenditure of
such an enormous amount of money when the state
of Wiltshire's roads is so bad. This view has
been communicated to The Highways Agency.
Affordable Housing
Progress is being made with Dinton Parish Council,
Salisbury District Council and the Raglan Housing
Association. The new questionnaire is ready for
distribution in Dinton. I shall have some for any
Barford residents who wish to complete the form.
The results of the previous survey hold good for
Barford.
Bus Shelters
It now looks as though second hand shelters will
not be available for the village. This will be
kept under review.
Tree Preservation Order
SDC have placed a tree preservation order on the
large holm oak in the grounds of Barford Lodge
overhanging Mount Lane.
Recycling
The blue recycling bags seen in Wilton are an
experiment. I have offered Barford's inclusion in
the experiment if they wish to test the response
of a small village.
Traffic Priority System
This is presently under construction and should
be finished during the school Easter holidays. It
will then run for an experimental period of one
year.
Tisbury Sports Centre
A shorter, more structured approach involving
coaching and at a cost of £2 per child is
proposed and will be discussed at our next Parish
Council meeting. A copy of the Sports Centre's
letter is on the notice board. Any views in
advance would be welcome.
Best Kept Village
We have entered again this year. Judging is at
the end of May. Remember, we won last year!
Notice Boards
Keep an eye open for notices from Wilton police.
