KEEPING YOU POSTED 23 by Peter Batt, Parish Council Chairman. 7th July 2003

SKIPS

Skips are for the use of all people in the village irrespective of the location of the skips. Skips are timed to coincide with the village fete so that surplus items can be easily disposed of. RV Maidments have confirmed that there were no problems with the way they were used. Thank you.

B3089

4 accidents on the B3089 since October last year has persuaded WCC to have SLOW markings painted on the road outside the entrance to the Hurdcott Estate at East Lodge. White line markings will also be enhanced.

BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION

Barford has won the competition for medium sized villages in South Wiltshire and will automatically go forward to the next stage which takes in the whole county. Everyone is to be congratulated. They are now asked to continue to keep their own properties tidy and pick up litter. Judging takes place in mid July.

TISBURY SPORTS DAY

Tisbury Sports Centre will be in the school field from 2-4pm on 4 August. They will have the usual range of activities and there is no cost to participants. The Parish Council will be paying a fee of £30 so we hope the event will be well supported.

ABANDONED VEHICLES

There are abandoned vehicles again in the car park at the bottom of St Martin's Close. The District Council will be taking action against the owners and removing the vehicles. Abandoning cars causes danger to children and to the environment.

FISHING

Arrangements for fishing have been well publicised in the Barford Bulletin and on notices. Please obey the rules and make sure you have a fishing licence which I am told costs £5 per year for under 16s and £22 for adults.
