GRASS
CUTTING
After a competitive tendering exercise the grass
cutting contract for 2003/2004 has been awarded
to Banyards. It was with regret that we had to
drop the Burnabake Trust who had given us a very
satisfactory service over the years but the price
quoted by Banyards was irrestible. We shall be
watching their performance with interest.
FACTORY LANE
WCC Highways now accept that Factory Lane is
adopted but only metalled as far as Church Farm
Cottages and a green lane thereafter. They are
still awaiting a reply form Cranbrooke Park Homes
about the ponding caused by their having tarmaced
the road.
FISHING
The final details of the fishing arrangements are
currently being negotiated.
CAR PARKING
The Parish Council decided at its last meeting to
seek planning permission to provide car parking
places in the school field off Duck Lane.
BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION
After last years better showing in the
competition we have decided to enter the
competition again. Judging takes place towards
the end of May. We are reminded that the
competition is about being the best kept rather
than the prettiest village.
SCHOOL TRAVEL PLAN
We await detailed plans from Wiltshire County
Council. Any plans will be subject to the usual
planning process.
CHURCHYARD AND CEMETERY TAPS
New taps has now been installed in the churchyard
and in the cemetery at the western end of the
village.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
The Parish Council has formally adopted an Equal
Opportunities policy. Copies are available on
request. The tap for the churchyard has now been
assembled and we now await Wessex Water to
complete the connection to the mains. This will
be done free of charge. The tap for the West St
cemetery has been ordered and will be fitted
shortly.
