KEEPING
YOU POSTED 21
CHURCHYARD
AND CEMETERY TAPS
The tap for the churchyard has now been assembled
and we now await Wessex Water to complete the
connection to the mains. This will be done free
of charge. The tap for the West St cemetery has
been ordered and will be fitted shortly.
POST OFFICE
A questionnaire will be given to all residents to
see whether there is a good case for the
provision of post office facilities in the School
House. At present a draft questionnaire is with
the Post Office for comment.
POLICE
PC Andy Webb has an hour-long session in the
School House from time to time. The next occasion
is on 19 March. He and Sgt Nick Cane will be at
the next Parish Council meeting on the same day (starting
7pm) to answer any questions from the public and
the Council.
TELEPHONE BOX
As many will have noticed, the telephone box in
West St was recently vandalised again. BT will
not move it to another location neither will they
remove it completely. I understand the damage was
done by someone from outside the village.
PATH TO HEATH FARM PARK
The Parish Council recognises that improvements
are necessary and money has been set aside to
undertake them. We propose to close off the gap
that users have opened up to access the footpath
up to Burcombe.
PLANNING
There has been a change to SDC's planning
processes so the council officials can in some
circumstances make decisions contrary to the
recommendations of parish councils. This will be
explained in more detail at the next Parish
Council meeting on 19 March.
REGIONAL GOVERNMENT
The Parish Council will express a view on whether
a referendum should be held on the question of
forming a Regional Assembly for the South West.
The view will be reported at the next Parish
council meeting or in a later KYP Notice.
